Description

Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread is a classic Southern dessert with a moist, tender crumb and rich, buttery pecan flavor. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a comforting afternoon snack. With its golden crust and soft interior, it’s a true taste of Southern tradition.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1½ cups self-rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans, finely chopped

Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat & Prepare – Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2️⃣ Mix Wet Ingredients – In a bowl, stir together both sugars, eggs, and oil until smooth.
3️⃣ Add Dry Ingredients – Stir in the self-rising flour and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
4️⃣ Fold in Pecans – Gently mix in the chopped pecans.
5️⃣ Bake – Pour the batter into the dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
6️⃣ Cool & Serve – Let it cool before slicing into squares. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For extra flavor: Toast the pecans before adding them to the batter.
  • Make it spiced: Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for warmth.
  • Nut substitutions: Swap pecans for walnuts or almonds if desired.
  • Gluten-free option: Use a gluten-free self-rising flour blend.
  • Storage: Keeps well in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 days or refrigerated for a week.
