Ingredients
- 5 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp celery seed
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cans (284ml each) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 package (8oz/250g) cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 1 tbsp chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken – Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker.
- Season – In a small bowl, mix Italian seasoning, celery seed, onion powder, pepper, salt, and minced garlic. Sprinkle over chicken.
- Add Soup – Pour cream of mushroom soup over the seasoned chicken.
- Cook – Cover and cook on LOW for 8 hours.
- Shred & Add Cream Cheese – After 8 hours, shred the chicken with two forks. Add cream cheese cubes, stir, and cook on HIGH for 1 more hour.
- Stir & Serve – Once the cream cheese melts into a smooth sauce, stir well. Garnish with chives and serve hot.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add sliced mushrooms or diced onions.
- Substitute chicken breasts with thighs for a juicier texture.
- If the sauce is too thin, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir it in before the final cooking hour.
