Description

Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples is a comforting southern-inspired dish featuring tender, spiced apples coated in a buttery, rich sauce. Perfect as a side dish, dessert, or topping, this easy slow cooker recipe is a family favorite and a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 large apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ cup apple juice or apple cider
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Place peeled and sliced apples into the slow cooker.
  • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle over the apples.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk melted butter, cornstarch, lemon juice, and apple juice until smooth. Pour the mixture over the apples and toss gently to coat.
  • Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours, until apples are tender but still hold their shape.
  • Stir gently before serving to ensure the apples are fully coated in the sauce.

Notes

  • For extra warmth, add a pinch of cloves or ginger.
  • Mix apple varieties (Granny Smith with Honeycrisp or Fuji) for a balanced sweet-tart flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
