Description

Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes combine the bold flavors of a classic Philly cheesesteak with the saucy, comforting goodness of a sloppy joe. Made with ground beef, sautéed vegetables, melted Provolone cheese, and served on soft brioche buns, this easy recipe is perfect for a weeknight dinner or casual get-togethers. Quick, delicious, and customizable, this dish will be a new family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 8 oz brown mushrooms, minced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp Kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 8 oz Provolone cheese, chopped
  • 6 brioche hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until browned.
  • Remove the beef from the skillet, add butter, and sauté onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Return the browned beef to the skillet, then mix in the cornstarch and beef broth mixture, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Stir in the chopped Provolone cheese until fully melted and combined.
  • Toast the brioche buns lightly and spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the buns.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a leaner option, swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • Add jalapeños or chili flakes to spice things up.
  • If you prefer a low-carb option, serve the filling in lettuce wraps instead of buns.
  • Substitute Provolone with mozzarella or cheddar cheese if desired.
  • Mushrooms can be omitted if you’re not a fan.
