Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  • Add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Divide the risen dough into 2-4 portions and shape them into 1-inch-thick rounds.
  • Preheat a nonstick skillet over low to medium heat. Lightly grease the skillet if needed.
  • Place one dough round in the skillet, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until golden brown on one side.
  • Flip the bread, cover again, and cook for another 8-10 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  • Cool on a wire rack before slicing or serving.

Notes

  • Ensure your water is warm (110°F/45°C) to activate the yeast effectively.
  • For variations, add fresh herbs, garlic, or shredded cheese to the dough before shaping.
