Soft and sweet Hawaiian rolls dipped in a rich cinnamon-vanilla custard and cooked to golden perfection. This easy twist on classic French toast makes for a delightful breakfast or brunch treat.
Ingredients:
12 Hawaiian rolls, halved
3 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Butter (for cooking)
Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit (for serving)
Directions:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
Dip each halved Hawaiian roll into the custard mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter.
Cook the soaked Hawaiian rolls in batches, about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Add more butter as needed for each batch.
Serve the French toast warm, topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
