Soft and chewy cookie bars layered with decadent salted caramel and melty chocolate chips. Perfect for a rich dessert or a sweet treat for any occasion.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup caramel sauce
1/2 teaspoon sea salt flakes
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving extra on the sides for easy lifting.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms. Fold in chocolate chips.
Spread half of the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
Pour the caramel sauce over the partially baked cookie layer, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cookie dough over the caramel layer and gently spread to cover.
Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the edges are set.
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
