Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella sticks
- 12 slices of beef (flank steak, sirloin, or deli-style beef works well)
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup flour
- Oil for frying
- For the dip:
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Wrap the Mozzarella: Wrap each mozzarella stick tightly in a slice of beef. Use toothpicks to secure them if necessary.
- Prepare the Breading: In a shallow bowl, place the flour. In another bowl, beat the egg. In a third bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.
- Bread the Sticks: Dip each beef-wrapped mozzarella stick first in the flour, then in the beaten egg, and finally in the panko breadcrumbs. Ensure each stick is fully coated for a crispy crust.
- Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Once the oil is hot, carefully drop the mozzarella sticks into the oil.
- Fry: Fry the mozzarella sticks for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Dip: Mix mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce, and honey together in a bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Serve the beef-wrapped mozzarella sticks hot with the Sriracha mayo dip. Enjoy!
Notes
- Freezing Tip: To prevent cheese leakage, freeze the mozzarella sticks for 15-20 minutes before frying.
- Storage: These are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes for the crispiest texture.
