Description
This Crockpot Stuffing with Sausage and Apple is the perfect holiday side dish. Combining savory sausage, sweet apples, and fragrant herbs, it’s easy to prepare and packed with flavor. A must-have for Thanksgiving or Christmas, it complements turkey or ham beautifully.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- 8 cups cubed bread, toasted
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tsp poultry seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Using the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and celery until softened.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, sautéed onion and celery, apples, toasted bread cubes, chicken broth, melted butter, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Transfer the mixture to your crockpot. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Once fully cooked, serve warm and enjoy!

- For a vegetarian version, use plant-based sausage and vegetable broth.
- To add a crunch, mix in chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.
