Description

Churros Poppers are delightful bite-sized fried dough treats rolled in cinnamon sugar. Perfect for parties or satisfying sweet cravings, these poppers are quick to make with pantry staples like flour, sugar, cinnamon, and oil. Serve with chocolate, caramel, or dulce de leche for a crowd-pleasing dessert.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 2½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying (about 2½ inches deep)

Instructions

  • Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: Combine ½ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl or paper bag; set aside.
  • Heat Oil: Fill a deep fryer with oil about 2½ inches deep. Heat to 375°F (190°C).
  • Make Dough: In a saucepan, combine water, 2½ tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons oil. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, and stir in flour until it forms a ball.
  • Form Poppers: Once the dough cools slightly, roll into walnut-sized balls.
  • Fry: Fry 3-4 dough balls at a time until golden brown. Toss in cinnamon-sugar immediately after frying. Repeat with remaining dough.

Notes

  • Use a cookie scoop for uniform poppers.
  • For variations, try filling poppers with Nutella or air-frying for a lighter option.
  • Reheat in a 400°F (200°C) oven and recoat with cinnamon-sugar for the best texture.
