Chicken Chow Mein with the Best Chow Mein Sauce Recipe

Delicious Chicken Chow Mein loaded with tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and the most amazing homemade Chow Mein sauce.

Ingredients:

– 8 oz chow mein noodles
– 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 1 onion, sliced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 red bell pepper, sliced
– 1 cup shredded cabbage
– 1 cup sliced carrots
– 1/2 cup soy sauce
– 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
– 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
– 1 tablespoon sesame oil
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– 1/4 cup water
– Salt and pepper to taste

– Green onions for garnish

Directions:

Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add sliced chicken and cook until no longer pink. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add more oil if needed and sauté onion and garlic until fragrant. Add bell pepper, cabbage, and carrots, and stir-fry until vegetables are tender-crisp.
Return cooked chicken to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well to combine and let simmer until the sauce thickens.
Add cooked chow mein noodles to the skillet and toss to coat everything in the sauce.
Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
