Applesauce Cake Recipe

This classic applesauce cake is incredibly moist, spiced with warm cinnamon, and sweetened naturally with applesauce. It’s a healthier, dairy-free treat that’s perfect for breakfast, snacking, or dessert. Try it with a light dusting of powdered sugar or a simple glaze for an extra touch.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups applesauce, unsweetened

1/2 cup unrefined sugar (such as coconut or brown sugar)

1/4 cup vegetable oil (or additional applesauce for an oil-free option)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose or spelt flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, mix together the applesauce, sugar, oil (or extra applesauce), and vanilla extract until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool completely in the pan before slicing. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or top with a simple glaze.
