A homemade sweet and spicy chili sauce that adds a burst of flavor to any dish
Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup sugar
– 1/4 cup water
– 1/4 cup white vinegar
– 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
– 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
– 1 teaspoon finely minced fresh ginger
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch
– 2 tablespoons cold water
– Salt to taste
Directions:
1️⃣ In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, 1/4 cup water, and white vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
2️⃣ Add the minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and minced ginger to the saucepan. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
3️⃣ In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry. Stir this mixture into the saucepan.
4️⃣ Increase the heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Once thickened, remove from heat and season with salt to taste.
5️⃣ Allow the sauce to cool completely before transferring it to a jar or bottle. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
6️⃣ Store the Sweet Chili Sauce in the refrigerator. Use it as a dipping sauce for spring rolls, a glaze for grilled meats, or a flavorful addition to your favorite dishes.
7️⃣ Enjoy the homemade touch and vibrant flavors of your own Sweet Chili Sauce, a staple condiment that brings a delightful blend of sweetness and spice to any meal.
