Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¾ cup Valentine’s-themed candy (M&M’s, heart-shaped sprinkles, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips and half of the Valentine’s-themed candy.
  7. Scoop dough using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, placing dough balls 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
  8. Press a few remaining candies on top for decoration.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
