Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake Layer:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk

For the Dark Chocolate Mousse:

  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Milk Chocolate Mousse:

  • 8 oz milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the White Chocolate Mousse:

  • 8 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Garnish (Optional):

  • Shaved chocolate, cocoa powder, or chocolate curls

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch springform pan.

2. Make the Cake Layer:

  1. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream butter and sugar in a separate bowl until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool completely.

3. Make the Mousse Layers:

  • Dark Chocolate Mousse: Melt dark chocolate, cool slightly, then fold into whipped cream, sugar, and vanilla. Spread over the cake and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Milk Chocolate Mousse: Repeat the process with milk chocolate. Spread over dark chocolate mousse and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • White Chocolate Mousse: Repeat with white chocolate. Spread over milk chocolate mousse and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

4. Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the springform pan, garnish as desired, slice, and enjoy!
