Whipped Cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream

Topping:
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 2 tbsp sugar (for macerating)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients and cut it in until the mixture is crumbly.
- Stir in the milk, egg, and vanilla extract to form a smooth batter, then pour into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
- For the whipped cream, chill a mixing bowl and beat together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Slice the cooled cake horizontally. Spread a layer of whipped cream on the bottom layer.
- Arrange half of the sliced strawberries over the whipped cream, then top with the second layer of cake.
- Spread the remaining whipped cream and decorate with the remaining strawberries.
