Description

Sour Patch Grapes are a fun and delicious treat that mimics the classic sour candy experience using fresh fruit. Coated in lime juice, sugar, and flavored gelatin powder, these grapes offer the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. This easy, no-bake snack is great for parties, summer treats, or a fun cooking activity with kids.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups green or red seedless grapes, washed and dried
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (or lemon juice for extra tartness)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ package flavored gelatin powder (such as Jell-O; choose your preferred flavor)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Grapes: Wash the grapes thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel to ensure the coating sticks properly.
  • Coat with Lime Juice: Place the grapes in a large mixing bowl, pour the lime juice over them, and toss gently to coat. Let them sit for 2 minutes to absorb the flavor.
  • Mix Sugar and Gelatin: In a separate bowl, mix the granulated sugar and flavored gelatin powder. If using multiple flavors, divide the sugar accordingly.
  • Coat the Grapes: Sprinkle the sugar and gelatin mixture over the lime-coated grapes and toss until evenly coated. Alternatively, place the grapes in a resealable plastic bag, add the mixture, and shake gently.
  • Chill and Serve: Spread the coated grapes in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 30–60 minutes to set the coating. Enjoy chilled!

Notes

  • Experiment with different gelatin flavors for a variety of tastes.
  • For extra sourness, add a small amount of citric acid to the sugar and gelatin mix.
  • Freeze the coated grapes for a refreshing summer treat.
  • Use sugar-free gelatin and a sugar substitute for a lower-calorie option.
