Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt or sea salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease with non-stick spray.
- Place butter in a metal bowl and place it in the oven to partially melt (about half of the butter), then remove and let it cool slightly.
- Once cooled, add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the butter. Beat with a mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
- Mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt until combined. If dough is too wet, add extra flour one tablespoon at a time.
- Fold in chocolate chips until just incorporated.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets using a cookie scoop, spacing them well apart. Press extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes for large cookies or 8-9 minutes for small ones. Be careful not to over-bake.
- Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
- If you want your cookies to spread less, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For long-term storage, freeze for up to 3 months.
- Reheat cookies for 10-15 seconds in the microwave to restore the gooey texture.
