Description

Seven-Layer Taco Salad is a bold and flavorful layered dish perfect for parties and family meals. With seasoned beef, creamy guacamole, fresh toppings, and customizable ingredients, this vibrant salad is a guaranteed hit for gatherings.

 


Ingredients

For the Ground Beef Layer

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Guacamole Layer

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

For the Sour Cream Layer

  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream

For the Cheese Layer

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

For the Toppings

  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Drain excess fat, then stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, mash avocados with lime juice, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cilantro (if using). Set aside.
  • In a clear glass dish, layer ingredients:
    • Ground beef as the base layer.
    • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese for the second layer.
    • Sour cream spread evenly for the third layer.
    • Guacamole as the fourth layer.
    • Remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese as the fifth layer.
    • Toppings (tomatoes, olives, jalapeños, green onions, and cilantro) as the sixth layer.
  • Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes. Serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For vegetarian options, replace beef with seasoned black beans or lentils.
  • Add lime juice to guacamole and press plastic wrap tightly on top to prevent browning.
