Description

Indulge in this ribeye steak recipe featuring perfectly seared steaks topped with sweet caramelized onions and earthy sautéed mushrooms. A gourmet, restaurant-quality meal perfect for special occasions or cozy dinners at home.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steaks:
    • Season ribeye steaks with salt and pepper on both sides. Let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  • Caramelize Onions:
    • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sliced onions; cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
    • Add sugar and balsamic vinegar in the last 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook Mushrooms:
    • In the same skillet, heat remaining olive oil and butter.
    • Sauté mushrooms and minced garlic until golden and tender (5-7 minutes).
    • Season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside.
  • Sear Steaks:
    • Increase skillet heat to medium-high.
    • Sear ribeye steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to desired doneness.
    • Rest steaks for 5 minutes.
  • Assemble and Serve:
    • Top each steak with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms.
    • Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added richness, use garlic herb butter instead of olive oil for cooking.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp green salad.
  • For a bolder flavor, deglaze the skillet with red wine after searing the steaks and drizzle over the dish.
