Ingredients
- 2 ribeye steaks
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Steaks:
- Season ribeye steaks with salt and pepper on both sides. Let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Caramelize Onions:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions; cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
- Add sugar and balsamic vinegar in the last 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Cook Mushrooms:
- In the same skillet, heat remaining olive oil and butter.
- Sauté mushrooms and minced garlic until golden and tender (5-7 minutes).
- Season with salt and pepper. Remove and set aside.
- Sear Steaks:
- Increase skillet heat to medium-high.
- Sear ribeye steaks for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust to desired doneness.
- Rest steaks for 5 minutes.
- Assemble and Serve:
- Top each steak with caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms.
- Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley. Serve immediately.
