Ingredients

  • Cake:

    • 2 cups milk
    • 6 tablespoons melted butter
  • Butter Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in diced rhubarb, milk, and melted butter until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • For the butter sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar, and heavy cream.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  • Serve the cake warm with the butter sauce drizzled generously on top.
