“Delight in the perfect combination of soft, cocoa-rich red velvet cookie bars topped with tangy cream cheese frosting. Perfect for holidays, parties, or an indulgent treat, this easy recipe is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.”

Ingredients

For the Bars:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 oz red food coloring

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13×9-inch pan with parchment paper or foil and grease it lightly.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Cream Butter and Sugar: Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).
  • Add Eggs and Flavorings: Mix in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and red food coloring.
  • Combine Mixtures: Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  • Bake: Spread batter into prepared pan and bake for 15-20 minutes. Test with a toothpick; cool completely in the pan.
  • Prepare Frosting: Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy, gradually add powdered sugar, then vanilla, mixing until smooth.
  • Frost and Serve: Spread frosting over cooled bars. Slice into squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure butter and cream cheese are softened but not overly warm to avoid runny frosting.
  • For clean-cut bars, chill before slicing and use a sharp knife.
  • Customize colors to suit seasonal events or personal preference.
