Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
3/4 cup milk (plus extra for brushing)
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Add cold cubed butter and cut into the mixture using a pastry cutter or fingers until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually pour in milk, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently a few times, and pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut out biscuits with a round cutter, re-rolling dough as necessary.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet and lightly brush tops with milk.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool slightly, then spread peanut butter on top before serving.
Notes
For extra texture, use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy.
Drizzle honey or maple syrup for a sweeter version.
Add a sprinkle of sea salt or chili flakes for a savory kick.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days or in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Reheat in a warm oven before serving.
Biscuits can be frozen for up to 2 months.
