Description

Classic Pea Salad is a timeless favorite, blending sweet peas, savory bacon, sharp cheddar, and a creamy dressing. Perfect for BBQs, potlucks, or family dinners, this easy-to-make salad is ready in just 10 minutes and tastes even better after chilling.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen peas, thawed
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese, shredded or cubed
  • ½ red onion, finely chopped
  • ½ cup beef, cooked and crumbled
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peas: Place thawed peas in a large bowl. If frozen, rinse under cold water to expedite thawing, then pat dry.
  2. Add Ingredients: Combine peas with red onion, bacon, and cheddar cheese.
  3. Make the Dressing: Whisk mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar (if using), salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  4. Combine: Pour the dressing over the pea mixture and toss gently to coat.
  5. Chill and Serve: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to enhance flavors. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • Optional sugar in the dressing can be omitted for a less sweet flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Do not freeze, as it may affect the peas’ texture.
