Description

Crispy, flavorful, and easy to make, these oven-baked garlic and Parmesan fries are a healthier alternative to deep-fried fries while delivering the same irresistible crunch. Seasoned to perfection with garlic, Parmesan, and Italian herbs, these homemade fries make the perfect side dish, snack, or appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 4 large Russet potatoes (washed and cut into fries)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • ⅓ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare potatoes – Cut them into fries and pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Season fries – In a large bowl, toss the fries with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning until evenly coated.
  • Bake – Arrange the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  • Add garlic and Parmesan – In the last 5 minutes of baking, sprinkle minced fresh garlic and grated Parmesan over the fries. Return to the oven until the cheese melts and the garlic becomes fragrant.
  • Garnish and serve – Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, soak cut potatoes in water for 30 minutes, then dry before baking.
  • Swap Russet potatoes with sweet potatoes for a unique twist.
  • Add cayenne pepper for a spicy version.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
