Description

Ingredients

  • For the Dough:
    • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
    • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
    • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • For the Topping:
    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 tsp garlic powder
    • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  • Activate the Yeast:
    • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • Prepare the Dough:
    • Mix flour, softened butter, and salt in a bowl. Add the yeast mixture and knead by hand or with a mixer for 8–10 minutes until elastic.
  • First Rise:
    • Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
  • Shape Breadsticks:
    • Divide dough into 12–14 pieces, rolling each into a 6–7 inch rope. Arrange on a baking sheet.
  • Second Rise:
    • Cover breadsticks and let rise for 20–30 minutes until puffy.
  • Bake:
    • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake breadsticks for 12–15 minutes until golden.
  • Prepare the Topping:
    • Melt butter and mix in garlic powder and salt. Brush over hot breadsticks immediately after baking.
