Ingredients

  • 1 pound white, deli-sliced American cheese
  • ⅔ cup of milk or half-and-half
  • 34 tablespoons canned, chopped green chiles or jalapeños
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. For Slow Cooker:
    • Set the slow cooker to the lowest setting.
    • Add all ingredients and stir occasionally until the cheese is fully melted and thickened.
  2. For Double Boiler:
    • Heat milk, chiles, and spices in the top of a double boiler over simmering water.
    • Gradually add cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
  3. Serve warm with tortilla chips, veggies, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, include the optional chipotle powder.
  • Store cooled dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat gently on the stove or microwave, adding milk if needed.
