Description

Martha Washington Candy is a nostalgic homemade treat featuring a rich, creamy coconut and pecan filling coated in smooth chocolate. This easy-to-make candy is perfect for holidays, gifting, or indulging in a classic chocolate confection.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups shredded sweetened coconut
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or shortening (for smoother chocolate coating)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  1. In a large bowl, mix powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and softened butter until smooth.
  2. Stir in shredded coconut and chopped pecans until well incorporated.
  3. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions and roll into balls. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours until firm.

Melt the Chocolate:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.

Coat the Candies:

  1. Using a fork or toothpick, dip each chilled candy ball into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off.
  2. Place coated candies back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

Set the Chocolate:

  1. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate is completely set.

Serve & Store:

  1. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
