Description

Homemade Chocolate Turtles are a decadent combination of rich caramel, crunchy pecans, and smooth chocolate. These classic bite-sized treats are perfect for gift-giving, holiday celebrations, or satisfying your sweet tooth!

Ingredients

1 ½ cups pecan halves

30 soft caramel candies, unwrapped

2 tablespoons heavy cream

1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)

Sea salt, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pecans:
    • Arrange clusters of 3-4 pecan halves on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spaced a few inches apart.
  • Make the Caramel Layer:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramel candies and heavy cream.
    • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between intervals, until the caramel is melted and smooth.
    • Let cool slightly, then spoon a small amount over each pecan cluster.
  • Add the Chocolate:
    • Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 20-second intervals and stirring until fully melted and smooth.
    • Spoon melted chocolate over each caramel-pecan cluster, smoothing the top with the back of a spoon.
  • Garnish and Set:
    • Sprinkle sea salt over each turtle if desired.
    • Allow the turtles to set at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker setting.
  • Serve and Store:
    • Once the chocolate has hardened, the turtles are ready to enjoy.
    • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

For variety, use dark chocolate or white chocolate instead of semi-sweet.

Toast the pecans lightly for an enhanced nutty flavor before assembling the turtles.
