Ingredients
- For the Cake:
- 1 box devil’s food cake mix (or any chocolate cake mix)
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- For the Toppings:
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 jar (12 oz) caramel sauce (or butterscotch sauce)
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 cup Heath toffee bits or crushed chocolate toffee bars
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix according to the package instructions.
- Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly in the pan.
- Add the Toppings:
- While the cake is warm, poke holes all over the top using a wooden spoon handle.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
- Spread the caramel sauce over the top. Let the cake cool completely.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer:
- In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until creamy. Fold in the whipped topping.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled cake.
- Sprinkle the Heath toffee bits and mini chocolate chips on top.
- Chill and Serve:
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours until the topping is set. Slice and serve chilled.
