Description

Hamburger Stroganoff is a quick and hearty twist on the classic beef stroganoff. This recipe combines savory ground beef with a creamy mushroom sauce, making it a satisfying and comforting meal, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups beef broth

1/2 cup sour cream

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

8 oz egg noodles (or pasta of choice)

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions, drain, and set them aside.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Once it’s browned, drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 2-3 minutes, until softened.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook them for about 5-7 minutes until they become tender.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute to help thicken the sauce.
  6. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid any lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  7. Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste, letting it simmer for an additional 3-4 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  8. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing them in the creamy sauce. Serve hot and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

For a leaner version, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.

For a vegetarian option, replace ground beef with mushrooms and add extra vegetables like spinach or bell peppers.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

To reheat, microwave in short intervals or reheat on the stove, adding beef broth or water to loosen the sauce if necessary.
