Description

Indulge in crispy, golden Fried Cinnamon Apple Rings—a delicious dessert featuring sweet apple slices coated in a cinnamon-infused batter. Perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy treat!

Ingredients

  • Apple Rings:
    • 4 large apples (e.g., Gala, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith)
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • ¼ tsp baking powder
    • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1 large egg, beaten
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
    • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
    • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apples:
    • Peel (optional), core, and slice apples into ¼-inch thick rings. Remove the center of each slice.
  • Make the Batter:
    • Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
    • Combine the beaten egg and buttermilk in another bowl. Gradually mix wet ingredients into dry until smooth.
  • Heat Oil:
    • Heat 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry Apple Rings:
    • Dip apple slices into batter, let excess drip off, and fry in batches. Cook 2-3 minutes per side until golden.
  • Drain and Coat:
    • Place fried rings on paper towels. While warm, coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Serve:
    • Serve warm with optional toppings like ice cream or caramel sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the batter.
  • Gluten-free or vegan adaptations are simple with substitutes for flour, buttermilk, and eggs.
