Description

French Onion Meatloaf blends the rich, savory essence of French onion soup with the hearty comfort of classic meatloaf. Featuring caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese, this dish is a flavorful, gourmet twist perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

 


Ingredients

  • Ground beef
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Milk
  • Eggs
  • Caramelized onions
  • Gruyère cheese
  • Garlic
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Dijon mustard
  • Dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Sauté sliced onions in butter over medium heat until caramelized, about 20-25 minutes.
  • Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, pepper, and half the caramelized onions in a bowl. Mix gently.
  • Shape mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or press into a loaf pan.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the internal temperature is 160°F (70°C).
  • Top with shredded Gruyère cheese and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until melted.
  • Rest meatloaf for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with remaining caramelized onions.
