Whether you’re an experienced baker or a beginner, this recipe is simple to follow, and the results are mouthwatering. Get ready to indulge in a perfectly fried, crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside donut that will melt in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 7 grams of baker’s yeast
  • 5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ tablespoon cinnamon powder

Instructions

  • Place the yeast in a bowl and add lukewarm water to dissolve it.
  • Add the flour and mix well. The best method is using a stand mixer or a bread machine, but you can also knead by hand.
  • Add the milk, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and egg, then stir in the salt. Knead the dough for 3 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • Add the soft butter and knead until shiny.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, cover with cling film, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Divide the dough into equal pieces, roll into balls, and shape them into braids or other desired forms.
  • Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the donuts for 3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Once fried, drain on paper towels and roll in a cinnamon-sugar mixture (3 tablespoons of sugar and ½ tablespoon cinnamon). Alternatively, you can use frosting.

Notes

  • If making the dough ahead of time, refrigerate overnight and allow it to come to room temperature before proceeding.
  • You can freeze the dough for up to a month; thaw in the fridge overnight.
  • Experiment with different toppings like nutmeg or cardamom for extra flavor.
