Description

Ingredients
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- White royal icing
- Edible silver pearls or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat Oven – Set oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients – In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar – Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients – Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using).
- Combine Dough – Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth dough forms.
- Roll and Cut – Roll dough on a floured surface to ¼-inch thickness. Use a dove-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
- Bake – Arrange cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
- Decorate – Once cooled, decorate with white royal icing and add edible silver pearls or sprinkles.
Notes
- For firmer dough: Chill for 30 minutes before rolling.
- For softer cookies: Add 1 teaspoon cornstarch to the dry ingredients.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze undecorated cookies for up to 3 months.
