Description

These Crispy Wonton Apple Pie Bites are a delightful combination of tender cinnamon-spiced apples wrapped in crispy wonton wrappers. Perfect for a fall treat or a party dessert, these mini apple pie bites can be fried or air-fried for a crunchy finish. A quick and easy way to enjoy all the flavors of apple pie in a bite-sized form!

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 2 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the Bites:

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
In a bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the juices to release and thicken.

  • Assemble the Bites:
Place 1 teaspoon of the apple mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper diagonally into a triangle and press the edges firmly to seal. Use a dab of water on the edges to help them stick together.

  • Fry the Wonton Bites:
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wonton bites in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  • Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar:
Remove the bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Brush the warm wonton bites with melted butter and toss them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly.

  • Serve:
Serve warm with a side of caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream for dipping, if desired.

Notes

  • Storage: These are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
  • Reheating: To maintain crispiness, reheat in an oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  • Air Fryer Version: Brush the wonton wrappers with butter and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6-8 minutes until crispy.
  • Baking Alternative: Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
