Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 (21 oz.) can fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or cinnamon-sugar if using apple or peach filling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add softened butter, milk, and egg. Beat until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch pie dish, spreading it evenly over the bottom.
- Spoon the chosen fruit pie filling over the batter, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar (or cinnamon-sugar) on top for added sweetness.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and puffed around the edges.
- Cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.
Notes
- You can substitute the fruit pie filling with homemade filling as long as it’s thickened.
- To make the crust crispier, increase the baking time slightly or brush with melted butter or egg wash before baking.
