Description

Enjoy a hassle-free dessert with this Crazy Crust Pie recipe! A magical crust forms while baking, paired with your favorite fruit pie filling. Perfect for weeknights, potlucks, or holiday gatherings, it’s an easy-to-make treat that pairs wonderfully with ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (21 oz.) can fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, peach, blueberry, blackberry, etc.)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (or cinnamon-sugar if using apple or peach filling)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add softened butter, milk, and egg. Beat until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch pie dish, spreading it evenly over the bottom.
  • Spoon the chosen fruit pie filling over the batter, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
  • Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar (or cinnamon-sugar) on top for added sweetness.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and puffed around the edges.
  • Cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute the fruit pie filling with homemade filling as long as it’s thickened.
  • To make the crust crispier, increase the baking time slightly or brush with melted butter or egg wash before baking.
