Ingredients
- 40 saltine crackers (1 package)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups chocolate chips (about 1 package)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
- Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet. Break them in half if needed to fill the entire pan.
- In a small pot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 3 minutes without stirring.
- Remove the pot from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes. Remove and let it cool for 1-2 minutes.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the toffee. Return the pan to the oven (turned off) for 30-60 seconds to melt the chocolate.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the crackers with a spatula.
- Let the candy cool for 20 minutes, then refrigerate for 3-4 hours to set.
- Once chilled, break or cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
- Variations: Swap saltines for graham crackers for a sweeter version, or top with nuts, sprinkles, or candies like M&Ms or crushed candy canes for added texture and fun.
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or refrigerate it to prevent the chocolate from melting.
