- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for rolling)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Flatten bread slices with a rolling pin. Spread the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each slice.
- Roll each slice tightly to seal the filling inside.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, coating all sides.
- Cook roll-ups in the skillet for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll cooked roll-ups in this mixture while warm.
- Serve immediately with maple syrup for dipping.
Notes
- For variation, use Nutella, peanut butter, or jam instead of cream cheese.
- Best when served fresh but can be stored for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
- Adjust spices like cardamom or allspice for added flavor complexity.
