Ingredients

For the Cake Batter:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon to make the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  • Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon swirl mixture onto the batter and gently swirl it with a knife.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the cinnamon swirl for added texture.
  • For a tangy twist, substitute the glaze with a cream cheese frosting.
  • The cake can be made gluten-free by using a gluten-free flour blend.
  • Fresh or dried fruit such as raisins or chopped apples can be added for a fruity variation.
