Ingredients
- Fresh strawberries
- Semi-sweet or milk chocolate (melted)
- Mini marshmallows
- Pretzel sticks (mini or regular, broken in half)
- Candy eyes (optional)
- Orange frosting or colored icing for the beak
- Red frosting or colored icing for the waddle
Instructions
- Prepare the Strawberries: Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly, leaving the green tops on for positioning.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth and melted.
- Dip the Strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the green top and dip the bottom half into the melted chocolate. Place the dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined tray to set.
- Assemble the Turkey: Once the chocolate has set, attach a mini marshmallow at the top of each strawberry to create the turkey’s head. Insert pretzel sticks into the bottom of each strawberry for the turkey legs.
- Decorate: Add candy eyes to the marshmallow head and use orange and red frosting for the beak and waddle. Add additional decorative touches to personalize each turkey.
- Let Set: Allow the chocolate to harden completely at room temperature before serving.
Notes
- Storage: Store chocolate turkeys in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Refrigerating them will help them last longer but may cause the chocolate to lose its glossy finish.
- Make-Ahead: You can prepare these the day before and keep them in an airtight container.
- Variations: Swap strawberries for other fruits like grapes or bananas. Use white chocolate or mix milk and dark chocolates for different flavors.
- Customization: Change up the decorations by using M&Ms, candy corn, or other colorful treats for the turkey tail feathers.
