For the Chocolate Glaze (Optional):

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • Make the Batter:

    • Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
    • Stir in vanilla extract and sour cream.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
    • Stir until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.

    • Pour batter into the loaf pan and smooth the top.
    • Bake for 50-55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool:

    • Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Make the Chocolate Glaze (Optional):

    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter.
    • Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until smooth.
    • Drizzle over the cooled loaf.

Notes

  • Extra Moisture: Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a slight tang.
  • For a Nutty Twist: Add chopped walnuts or pecans.
