Ingredients
- 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs
- ¼ cup bourbon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare Sugar Mixture: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, and butter. Stir until butter melts and sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, bourbon, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually pour the cooled sugar mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
- Add Chocolate & Pecans: Stir in chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
- Assemble the Pie: Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and pour in the filling evenly.
- Bake: Bake for 50-55 minutes until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown. The center should be slightly firm.
- Cool & Serve: Let the pie cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Nut Substitutions: Try walnuts or a mix of nuts for a twist.
- Chocolate Variations: Use dark chocolate for a richer taste or white chocolate for extra sweetness.
- Alcohol-Free Option: Replace bourbon with extra vanilla extract.
- Storage: Keep at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- Reheating: Warm in a 325°F oven for 10 minutes or microwave individual slices for 20-30 seconds.
