Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
- 12 oz penne or rigatoni pasta
- 1 cup Cajun sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
- Stir in the bell pepper, onion, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables soften.
- Add the shrimp, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook until the shrimp turns pink, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the chicken broth, heavy cream, and uncooked pasta. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente and the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- If you prefer extra spice, add more Cajun seasoning or hot sauce.
- Use any short pasta you have, such as fusilli or farfalle.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut milk or cashew cream.
