Description
Braised Corned Beef Brisket is a flavorful, tender alternative to the traditional boiled method. Slow-cooked with onions, garlic, and beef broth, this dish melts in your mouth and is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or a hearty family meal.
Ingredients
- 1 (4-pound) corned beef brisket
- 1 tablespoon browning sauce
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set oven to 275°F (135°C).
- Prepare the Brisket: Rinse the corned beef under cold water to remove excess salt and pat dry.
- Apply Browning Sauce: Brush the brisket with browning sauce for added color and flavor.
- Sear the Meat: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the brisket for about 5 minutes per side until browned.
- Assemble for Braising: Place the brisket on a rack inside a roasting pan. Top with onions and garlic, then pour in the beef broth.
- Cover and Cook: Seal the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 6 hours, or until fork-tender.
- Rest and Serve: Let the brisket rest before slicing against the grain. Serve with cooked onions, garlic, and pan juices.
Notes
- For a glazed finish, brush the cooked brisket with brown sugar and Dijon mustard, then broil until caramelized.
- Add root vegetables like carrots and potatoes during the last 2 hours for a complete one-pan meal.
