Description

Blueberry Heaven Cookies are soft, chewy treats filled with juicy blueberries and a hint of creamy richness from cream cheese. With optional white chocolate chips and a touch of lemon zest, these cookies strike the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. Whether as a dessert, snack, or special breakfast treat, they’re easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup fresh or frozen blueberries (do not thaw if frozen)
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips (optional)
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients:

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Fold in Blueberries:

  1. Gently fold in the blueberries and white chocolate chips (if using) to prevent the berries from bursting.
  2. Stir in the lemon zest for a citrusy boost (optional).

Shape and Bake:

  1. Scoop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the tops are lightly set.

Cool and Serve:

  1. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra softness, avoid overbaking—cookies should remain slightly soft in the center.
  • If using frozen blueberries, do not thaw them to prevent excess moisture.
  • For added crunch, mix in ½ cup chopped nuts like pecans or almonds.
  • For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
