Description

A perfect surf-and-turf recipe, Blackened Steak and Shrimp Scampi combines smoky, tender steak with buttery, zesty shrimp. This quick and easy gourmet dish is ideal for weeknight meals or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tbsp blackening seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 1 lemon (juiced)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Steaks: Pat steaks dry and season with blackening seasoning. Let sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cook the Steaks: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steaks for 4-5 minutes per side (medium-rare) or to desired doneness. Rest steaks after cooking.
  • Sauté the Shrimp: In the same skillet, cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes until pink. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Deglaze the Pan: Add chicken broth and lemon juice, scraping skillet to release flavorful bits. Simmer.
  • Add Butter and Seasonings: Stir in half the butter and red pepper flakes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve: Slice steaks, plate, and top with shrimp scampi. Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Replace ribeye with sirloin or filet mignon for variety.
  • Use white wine instead of chicken broth for enhanced flavor.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp to maintain tenderness.
